AIOU to hold research-based projects’ exhibition

ISLAMABAD, May 28 (TNS): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will soon hold ‘Project Exhibition’ in order to showcase the research-based projects prepared by the students in order to share their research-work to the end-users and to motivate other students towards research and innovation.

It will provide a platform to researchers to share their research-based work that helps to address society-related socio-economic issues, said by the Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas.

This is the part of the University’s regular activities to promote creativity and innovations in the academic pursuits, he added.

Around fifty brand new projects prepared by the Physics’ students would be exhibited. To attract and motivate new students towards creativity and innovation, posters comprising of scholars’ ideas concerning to way-out of society related problems would also be displayed.

As per instruction by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, Department of Physics has expedited the work for holding the event. Necessary arrangements were being finalized, Syed Zafar Ilyas said.

AIOU’s Students of Physics around the country were being invited to showcase their projects, students of other educational institution will also be given the opportunity to participate.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. Shahid Siddiqui has focused his concentration on the promotion of research and innovation. For achieving the desired goals, most modern, state-of-the-art laboratories have been set up here at the main campus to facilitate the students to carry out their research-based study aimed at attracting students towards research-based work that helps to address society-related socio-economic issues.

By arranging the event, the AIOU being the Mega University in the public sector fulfills its responsibility helping students in their career making.  Over the last three and half years, it has been focusing on promoting research culture in the country, through various means including publishing research journals and holding national and international conferences.  In a short span of time, seventeen research journals were published and about thirty three conferences were arranged.

While stating about the aforesaid exhibition, Dr Shahid Siddiqui hoped the students will take full benefit of the opportunity, in developing their skill and expertise in order to serve the society. He asserted that the academic research must be linked with the society’s socio-economic uplift.
