PM announces award money for teen boy who sacrificed life while saving students during Neelum tragedy

Islamabad, May 31 (TNS): In recognition of sacrifice and heroic efforts made during the unfortunate incident of bridge collapse in District Neelum, Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 13th May 2018, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has approved immediate provision of Rs. three million to the parent of Saim Shafaat, son of Shafaat Hussain, and Rs. one million as reward to Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah.

Saim Shafat, aged 12 years, sacrificed his life while making a heroic effort to warn tourists of the imminent collapse of the bridge in the Kundal Shai area of District Neelum, Azad Jammu and Kashmir on 13th May 2018.

Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah risked his life to save two tourist students from drowning during the same incident.

The Prime Minister has directed Finance Division to immediately transfer the amount of Rs. 4.000 million to the Azad Government of Jammu and Kashmir for onward payment to the nominees.
