ISLAMABAD, June 1 (TNS): The Supreme Court announced the reserved verdict on an appeal against lifetime disqualification of former foreign minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif as he is now qualified for upcoming election 2018.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial and two other members Justices Faisal Arab and Sajjad Ali Shah heard the petition: Khawaja Asif had filed a petition in the apex court challenging his April 27 disqualification by the Islamabad High Court.

Earlier Islamabad High Court had disqualified him on holding IQAMA in Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf Usman dar case.

“Asif’s oath should be reviewed,” the legal counsel said, adding that Asif had taken the oath to never think about his personal benefit.
