Nomination Papers Scrutiny begins, as second phase of electoral process starts across Pakistan

Islamabad, June 12(TNS): The scrutiny of Nomination papers has started across the country on Tuesday, as the electoral process enters its second phase.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) with the help of various institutions will carry out the scrutiny process of the nomination papers of candidates.

Data of more than 12,000 candidates were sent forward to FBR, NAB and State Bank for the complete verification of Candidates

So far 7500 nomination papers have been verified through Online Data Scrutiny System.

As per the election schedule, the scrutiny process will conclude on Tuesday next. Appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers can be filed by 22nd of this month.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 29th June and the electoral body will announce the final list of candidates on the same day. The electoral symbols will be issued to candidates on 30th June. Polling will be held on July 25.

Meanwhile, Regional Election Commission Hazara has finalized the preliminary list of candidates that filed their nomination papers for contesting general elections 2018.

According to Regional Election Commissioner Hazara, a total of 522 candidates, including 26 women and a transgender belonging to various political parties and independents have submitted their nomination papers for 7 National Assembly and 18 provincial assembly seats across Hazara division.

Among them, 147 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for seven National Assembly seats while 375 candidates have filed their papers for 14 seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from  the Hazara division.
