Islamabad, June 20 (TNS): Attorney General of Pakistan Ashtar Ausaf has tendered his resignation.
The resignation by the attorney general comes following the removal of Asma Hamid from the post of advocate general of Punjab by the government.
According to media reports, Ausaf forwarded his resignation to the president. He was appointed attorney general of Pakistan on March 29, 2016.
Speaking about the decision, Ausaf said that he is submitting his resignation in view of upcoming general elections and country’s current political situation.
He said that he took this step before any political party could raise reservations upon him affecting the general elections.
