Kroos heroics, salvages ten-men Germany

Moscow, June 24(TNS): Germany overcame Sweden in a heart-throbbing game on Sunday as Kroos rescued Germany scoring a last-gasp goal in the 95th minute.
The goal came after Germany’s centre-back Jerome Boateng was sent off in the 82nd minute of the game and the Germans were reduced to 10-men.
Ola Toivonen opened the scoring early in the first half and Sweden looked at Halftime to knock out the defending champions.
The 2014 World cup winners, however, managed to respond with a telling equalizer in the 48th minute through Marco Reus and after that, the Germans never looked back sending waves of attack time and time again to breach the Swedish defence.
After Jerome Boateng was sent off it looked like the game might and into a deadlock but the Germans pressed relentlessly and were awarded a freekick in the last minute of injury time.
Toni Kroos and Marco Reus took it cleverly stunning the defence with an exquisite curler, Kroos delivered when it really mattered and the Germans now had a lifeline.
Germany will now face South Korea in the last game of the group which will be a must win, as Mexico will take on Sweden.
Mexico has already qualified for the knockout stages whereas the fate of Germany and Sweden resides on the last day of group games.
