Islamabad, July 2(TNS): A ceremony was held at the US embassy in Islamabad on Monday to mark the opening of the new consulate office and residences.
On the opening of the new consulate, US Ambassador David Hale, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations Project, Director Tracy Thomas and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Alice Wells.
Speaking on the inauguration of the new embassy, Ambassador David Hale said that it represents the American commitment to Pakistani People and to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two nations.
He added that the Embassy provides an environmentally stable platform to carry out diplomatic day to day operations.
Almost 10,000 people have contributed 30,000 work hours to complete the project since its inception in 2011 and Rs24 billions of local economy have been spent on the project of establishing a new US consulate in the federal capital.
