Harare, July 3(TNS): Aaron Finch’s record innings against Zimbabwe in the tri-nation series on Tuesday helped Australia thrash Zimbabwe by 100 runs at the Harare Sports Club.
The destructive opener scored 172 off 76 deliveries at a strike rate of 226.32 which included 16 fours and 10 sixes, and took the game away from the Zimbabweans, as Australia posted a massive total of 229 for 2.
In reply Zimbabwe started off well smashing sixes all over the park in the powerplay but soon lost momentum after the first six overs and their middle order as expected crumbled like a peck of cards, as Andrew Tye took 3 for 12.
On the other hand his counterpart Billy Stanlake was quite expensive as he conceeded 39 runs for 1 wicket in his 3 overs spell.
Skipper Aaron Finch was named the Man Of The Match for his memorable innings after the game, as Australia clinched victory by 100 runs.
After a humiliating defeat to the Aussies, Zimbabwe will now face Pakistan tomorrow at 1 pm local time.
