Islamabad, July 12 (TNS): President Mamnoon Hussain has urged students to give priority to national values and culture, state media reported.
He was addressing awards and medals distribution ceremony of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Islamabad on Thursday.
The President urged girl students to also focus on technical and professional studies besides higher education. He said that women constitute fifty percent of the population and their contribution in different fields is pivotal to reap full benefits of mega projects such as China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Mamnoon Hussain expressed satisfaction that the women are excelling in the field of education and expressed the confidence that they will bring good repute to the country but showing extraordinary performance in education.
Mamnoon Hussain pointed out that this is an era of information technology and our students should also acquire IT related education from the beginning so that they ready to face the future challenges.
The President said the education system should not only impart quality education to the students but it should also envisage character building and inculation of moral values amongst them.
He said it is our collective responsibility to provide conducive and peaceful environment to the youth to acquire education.
The President lauded the role of the Federal Board in imparting quality education. He stressed that such a system should be evolved which envisage refresher courses for the teachers so that they could effectively impart knowledge to the young generation.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister for Education Muhammad Yousaf Sheikh said efforts are being made to fully implement education policy 2017 to ensure quality education. He said the federal board has also evolved a robust examination system keeping in view the international standards. He said the federal board is also providing online services which has saved precious time of students and their parents but also reduced expenditures of the board.
Chairman FBISE Dr Ikram Ali Malik also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the steps taken by the board for bringing improvement in education and examination system.
Earlier, the president gave away certificates and cash prizes to the toppers of SSC and HSSC examinations.
