ANP leader Daud Khan Achakzai narrowly escaped attempt on life in Chaman

CHAMAN, July 16 (TNS): Awami National Party (ANP) leader Daud Khan Achakzai narrowly escaped attempt on life on Monday morning when armed men shot and injured him in Chaman.

Security and rescue officials said that the former senator received two gunshot wounds on his right arm when four unidentified men opened fire at him at a guesthouse he was staying in Qila Abdullah area.

The attackers fled the crime scene leaving the leader injured.

He was shifted to Trauma Centre, Civil Hospital in Quetta seeking medical attention and is reported to be in a stable condition.

Furthermore, the site of the incident has been cordoned off and a search operation has started by security personnel.

The armed attack comes a day after the country observed mourning day over recent terrorist attacks on election candidates in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ahead of the general elections.

Earlier last week ANP leader Haroon Bilour and 2o others were killed and nearly three dozens injured in a suicide bomb attack targeting an ANP rally in Peshawar’s Yakatoot area on July 10.
