Islamabad, July 16 (TNS): Caretaker Minister for Climate Change Muhammad Yusuf Shaikh says planting more trees is the need of the hour not only to meet our own requirements but also to mitigate and counter the negative impacts of climate change.
He expressed these view while launching drive of monsoon tree plantation from MUET Jamshoro on Monday.
On the occasion, the minister said that Pakistan is a forest deficient country having 4.224 million hectares’ area under forest cover.
He pointed out that there have been some national and provincial level efforts like Green Pakistan Program and Billion Tree Tsunami Afforestation Project in the country.
