LHC recommends larger bench for hearing against Sharif Family

Lahore, July 19, (TNS): Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday heard the petition filed against the conviction of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Retired Muhammad Safdar. Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi, while hearing the petition, forwarded it to the Chief Justice Lahore High Court. He has recommended that the Chief Justice LHC should constitute a larger bench to hear the petition.

Earlier on July  11, a plea against the sentence of former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif his daughter Maryam Nawaz and Captain Retried Safdar was lodged in Lahore High Court by Lawyers’ Foundation for Justice through a renowned advocate, AK Dogar. Three-Time premier was sentenced according to such a law, which become void after the 18th amendment. Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 11 years in prison by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court over his family’s purchase of luxury apartments in London, whereas, his daughter Maryam was sentenced to seven years in prison.
