ISLAMABAD, July 29 (TNS): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi on Saturday said that his party will convince the Sindh’s ruling party for amendment in local bodies act in order to pave way for a directly elected mayor for Karachi.

Addressing media after a meeting with his party chief and country’s likely premier Imran Khan, Alvi said that the PTI chief wants a directly elected mayor for Karachi and all the party lawmakers will raise this issue in Sindh Assembly before PPP.

Flanked by party leaders Imran Ismail and Faisal Vawda, Alvi also said that the PTI chief wants the water crisis in Karachi to be resolved on war footing.

“I have suggested formation of a special Karachi task force which should prioritize the issues and resolutions to be presented before the federal government and executed urgently,” said Alvi.

It is pertinent to note here that PTI won 12 out of the 21 National Assembly seats from Karachi and 23 seats in Sindh Assembly.
