Detained Palestinian journalist goes on hunger strike

Ramallah/Palestine, August 1(TNS): An arrested Palestinian journalist on Wednesday went on a hunger strike in protest of his detention by Israeli forces, according to Palestinian NGO.

40 year old Alaa al-Rimawi the director of Al-Quds TV office in the West Bank, was arrested during an Israeli raid on his home on Monday.

“He has gone on hunger strike on the first day of his arrest to protest his detention,” said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society.

Four other Palestinian journalists have been arrested by Israeli soldiers in raids this week in the West Bank of Gaza strip.

Palestinian figures suggest, approximately 6,500 Palestinians are currently trapped in Israeli prisons, including 20 women and some 350 minors.
