Islamabad, August 1 (TNS): West Indian master-blaster Chris Gayle has equalled (Boom-Boom) Shahid Afridi’s world record of most sixes in One Day Internationals.

In a One Day contest against Bangladesh, Gayle dispatched the bowlers all over the park and struck 5 sixes in his magnificent innings of 73 runs to break Pakistani superstar Shahid Afridi’s record.

In his illustrious career Shahid Afridi had struck 476 sixes, although he played 81 matches more than Gayle to reach the figure.

But it should be noted here that Gayle played as an opener for most of his career whereas Shahid Afridi  was a lower order pinch hitter in the Pakistan’s batting line-up.

Afridi took 524 matches in all formats of the game to smash 476 sixes while Chris Gayle took just 443 matches to match his feat.
