Sydney, Aug. 8 (TNS): The Australian team is scheduled to play Pakistan in a two-match Test series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the contests are expected to take place in the month of October this year. Prior to the series, they might be dealt with a massive blow as 25-year-old fast-bowler Pat Cummins is highly unlikely to feature in the Test matches owing to his long-lasting back injury.
He last played competitive cricket back in March in the Aussies’ away Test series against South Africa. He was thereafter listed to play in the IPL, but the stiff-back issue sidelined him. He also wasn’t picked to play in Australia’s ODI series and the one-off T20I against England followed by the T20I triangular series in Zimbabwe. Recently, he updated about his injury and also talked about his chances of playing in the Pakistan series.
“There’s no guarantees with injury, especially a stress fracture, It’s something you have to be really, really careful with. If you don’t treat it with respect, it can flare up and that’s when it goes from being one month away from bowling to suddenly having to restart all over again,” Cummins was quoted as saying in cricket.com.au.
