ISLAMABAD (TNS): Widespread rains, flash floods predicted 


ISLAMABAD July 11 (TNS): National Weather Forecasting Centre of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at a number of places today.

Thundershowers are expected in most areas of Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Sindh and Balochistan.

In Punjab and Kashmir there will be heavy rain in a number of areas including Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and other cities.

Rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy rainfall is expected at scattered places in southern Punjab D.G.Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal division and Gilgit-Baltistan.

PMD has warned the authorities about rain water accumulation everywhere and landslide risks in the hilly areas. Met Office warned that heavy rains will cause urban flooding and flash flooding in the vulnerable areas particularly in Char Sadha, Noshera and Peshawar.

Meanwhile, 34C temperature was recorded today in Bahawalpur, 32C in Bahawalpur AP, 37C in Bhakkar, 32C in Chitral, 32C in G.G Khan, 34C in Faisalabad, 34C in Gilgit, 31C in  Gujranwala, 26C in Islamabad HQ, 34C in Jhang, 35C in Jhelum, 29C in Karachi AP, 34C in Lahore, 34C in Layya, 33C in Multan, 19C in Murree, 26C in Muzafarabad, 29C in Peshawar City, 30C in Quetta, 34C in R.Y Khan, 33C in Sahiwal and 27C in Rawalpindi, 33C in Toba Tek Singh.
