One dead, Hundreds injured as earthquake rattles western Iran

Tehran, August 26 (TNS): Atleast one person has been found dead and hundreds injured, after an earthquake of 5.9-magnitude struck western Iran’s Kermanshah province on Sunday,  the provincial governor confirmed.

Several aftershocks were reported in the area, Houshang Bazvand told state television.

He said rescue teams were dispatched to the area and the injured were taken to hospitals.

The epicenter of the quake was reportedly almost 6 miles from the city of Tazehabad and about 19 miles from the city of Javanrud near border with Iraq.
