Federer eases into second round of US Open with emphatic win

New York , August 29 (TNS):  Tennis maestro Roger Federer breezed into the second round of the ongoing US Open after defeating Japanese player Yoshihito Nishioka in their opening clash of men’s singles event on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Swiss secured an emphatic victory over Nishioka by winning 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 straight-sets over the Japanese.

The twenty-time Grand Slam Champion, who is undefeated in the first round of a major slam since 2003 French Open, continued his good run of form and did not break much sweat to get past his Japanese opponent.

Federer will now take on Benoit Paire of France in his third-round match.
