LAHORE, August 30 (TNS): Former Railway Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday has submitted his nomination papers to contest from NA-131,Lahore constituency in the next by-elections.
The former PML-N lawmaker Rafique had suffered defeat at the hands of current supremo Imran Khan from NA-131 in a close contest.
He secured 83,633 votes against the PTI chairman’s 84,313 votes in the general elections 2018.
PML-N had issued a ticket to the Punjab Assembly lawmaker to contest the by-elections from the same constituency after PM Imran vacated the seat to keep his hometown seat of NA-95 Mianwali.
Nomination papers of Saad Rafique were submitted by his spokesperson Qasim, and returning officer Raham Zada accepted the papers.
Moreover, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas has submitted his papers for NA-124 constituency. The seat was vacated by Hamza Shehbaz.
The upcoming By-elections will be held on October 14 across the nation and overseas Pakistanis will also be able to vote in these elections.
