Plantation campaign “Plant for Pakistan” to begin from Sept 2: Amin

Islamabad, Aug. 30 (TNS): A day long plantation campaign “Plant for Pakistan” will begin from 2nd of the next month.

This was announced by Prime Minister’s Advisor on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam during a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday.

He said that 1.5 million trees will be planted in one day.

The Advisor asked general public to ensure their vigorous participation in the campaign as a national obligation.

He said the government is committed to plant ten billion trees during the tenure of five years.

Malik Amin Aslam said issues like water scarcity and climate change are mega challenges of the country, which need to be tackled through taking necessary steps.

He said planting trees is Pakistan’s biggest need through which environmental pollution can also be controlled.

The Advisor said Pakistan is facing the highest deforestation rate as forest area of the country is being shrunk specifically in our urban areas.
