Islamabad, Sept. 2 (TNS): Prime Minister Imran Khan’s newly appointed Economic Advisory Council (EAC) consisted old faces which were also part of similar council formed by ex-Finance Minister and PML-N leader Ishaq Dar.
PTI and Imran Khan himself used to blame Dar for destruction of country’s economy.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday constituted an 18-member Economic Advisory Council and out of these 18 members 7 belong to government while 11 are from the private sector.
The Council will advise the government on formulation of economic policies, but half of its private sector members are those who have been a part of former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s team.
The members who were a part of the council led by Dar were the staunch support the former finance minister’s policies, which, the government says, are responsible for the country’s economic crisis.
As many as 11 out of 18 members are from the private sector, according to a notification issued by the finance ministry. Five of the 11 private sector members are also either directly or indirectly associated with each other. They are Navid Hamid, Ijaz Nabi, Dr Imran Rasul, Dr Asim Ijaz Khawaja and Dr Atif Mian. Hamid and Nabi are brothers-in-law.
