Islamabad, Sept. 9 (TNS): The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has banned pillion-riding as part of security measures for Muharram processions and gatherings.
According to notification issued by office of the Islamabad District Magistrate, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has imposed Section 144 of Code (CrPC) in the jurisdiction of federal capital and banned pillion riding for two months.
The notification says that there is threat of violence and act of sabotage aimed at disrupting peace causing damage to public life and property during forthcoming Muharram-ul-Harram.
“Certain pillion riders are likely to resort to violence and acts of sabotage aimed at disrupting peace and tranquility causing damage to public life and property during Muharram-ul-Harram,” it read.
There are sufficient grounds for proceeding Section 144 CrPC 1898 and immediate prevention is necessary to prohibit pillion ridding of motorcycles in city.
As per the notification, the ban on pillion riding has been imposed with immediate effect for two months.
In July this year, the district administration has imposed a ban on affixing of posters and wall chalking in federal capital to prevent to human life and disturbance of the public peace and tranquility.
