Islamabad, Dec. 17 (TNS): Federal Minister for Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar along with a high-level delegation will arrive in Beijing on Tuesday to attend the meeting of 8th Joint Coordination Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor scheduled to be held on December 20.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rahman will also participate in the JCC.
During the JCC, the officials from Pakistan and China will discuss up-gradation of the main railway line from Peshawar to Karachi, the extension of Thakot-Raikot section of Karakorum Highway and construction of a new international airport at Gwadar.
The two sides will discuss the establishment of a hospital and a technical education school and a power plant in Gwadar.
They will discuss setting up of Special Economic Zones and cooperation to speed up the industrialization process in the country.
The officials will also discuss ways and means to enhance cooperation on energy and the oil and gas sector during the JCC.
A day before the JCC meeting, the working groups of the two countries will hold a meeting to give a final touch to the recommendations.
According to the official, the working group on energy has already finalized its recommendations to present in the JCC meeting.
Following the conclusion of the JCC, the two sides will sign minutes of the meetings of JCC and various working groups.
