Bangladesh election: Sheikh Hasina wins new term as PM

Bangladesh, Dec. 31 (TNS): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party has won parliamentary election.

According to unofficial results reported by local TV networks, the ruling party had won 281 seats.

The Bangladeshi Nationalist Party-led alliance (BNP) managed to win just seven seats out of 300 in the 350-member parliament.

The main   opposition led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party rejected the election and called for a fresh vote in the country of 165 million people.

 Meanwhile, Seventeen people have been killed while twenty others wounded in the incidents of clashes and violence during election.
