New Zealand, March 16 (TNS): In New Zealand, the main suspect in mass shootings at two mosques in a Christchurch was charged with one count of murder a day after the attack that killed 49 people and wounded dozens.
Brenton Harrison Tarrant, a 28-year old Australian citizen, appeared in a District Court and was remanded without a plea until his next scheduled appearance in the High Court 5th of next month.
Tarrant hands were handcuffed and he was wearing white prison attire. His court-appointed lawyer made no application for bail or name suppression.
Police said further charges are expected to be made against him.
Police said two other people were in custody.
