A review meeting regarding conduction of water to Islamabad from Ghazi Brotha was held at CDA Headquarters on Friday

Islamabad, April 26 (TNS): The meeting was attended by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan Ali Nawaz Awan, Chairman CDA / Chief Commissioner ICT, Members of CDA Board and other concerned formations.

During the meeting M/s Mod Macdonald presented different proposals for conduction of water from Ghazi Brotha, which were discussed in detail.

On this occasion, Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ali Nawaz Awan said that supply of water through Ghazi Brotha to capital city is among the priorities of government so that issue of water shortage can be resolved once for all.

Chairman, CDA / Chief Commissioner, ICT, while expressing his views said that population of Islamabad has been exceeded from 2 million, therefore, in order to cater growing water requirements of the city, this project is of immense importance. He said that water would be conducted to Islamabad from Ghazi Brotha through 45 kilometers long water supply line. He said that presently in the capital city water is being supplied from Simply Dam and tube wells while in few areas water is being supplied from Khanpur Dam. Therefore, in order to cater future water requirements this project is among our top priorities. He said that from this project 200 Million Gallons Daily (MGD) per day out of which 100 MGD will be supplied by the Rawalpindi while rest of the water will be utilized in Islamabad. He said that this project would be jointly completed by the Punjab and Federal governments.
