Islamabad: Jan 16, 2020 (TNS): Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan says second meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on occupied Kashmir in five months is acknowledgement of Kashmir as a recognized international dispute.

In a tweet on Thursday, she termed it a diplomatic success of Pakistan. She said the echo of legitimate, legal and democratic rights of the Kashmiri people was heard at the biggest forum of the world, which negated the Indian claims that the issue of Occupied Kashmir is its internal matter.

The Special Assistant urged the international community to fulfill the pledge with regard to realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Occupied Kashmir.

The Special Assistant said the way Prime Minister Imran boldly contested the case of the Kashmiri people, has no precedent in the past. She said the role of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is also exemplary, who advocated Kashmiris on the diplomatic front with his wisdom and best capabilities.

She said commendation of the role of Pakistan in de-escalation of tension in the region by the UN Secretary General is also heartening. She said Pakistan is being recognized as a peaceful, vibrant and proactive country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
