Islamabad: Dec 11, 2020 (TNS): Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has expressed satisfaction over improved economic situation of the country amid increased foreign remittances.
In a tweet on Friday, he said strong remittance flows are helping significantly with our external account.
The Minister said the biggest vulnerability of country’s economy, its unsustainable high external debt, is being improved as a result of this excellent performance.
He said it is needed to sustain high remittance flows for achieving true economic independence.
According to the latest figures of State Bank, foreign remittances flow reached to 2.34 billion dollars during last month which is 28.4 percent higher to the same month of last year. This is sixth consecutive month that recorded over two billion dollars remittances.
