Islamabad: July 19, 2021 (TNS): Under the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, for the first time in the ongoing Ehsas Rehri Ban program, bank loans were issued to the street vendors for carts. Speaking on the occasion, Syeda Shafaq Hashmi, Administrator, Metropolitan Corporation, Islamabad, said that the Municipality of Islamabad and other agencies in the Capital appreciate the efforts of microfinance banks to facilitate the disbursement of loans for neglected sector in the city. She while giving the message of Chairman CDA, Mr. Amer Ali Ahmed on the occasion assured the banks that all possible assistance will be provided to the banks in this regard.
Syed Omar, Head Corporate, U-Microfinance Bank, said that his institution vows to play a vital role in providing decent employment to the vendors alongside the government. Mr. Zia Banday, Focal Person PIDE on the subject, said that the scope of the program shall soon be extended to other parts of Islamabad after supply of modern carts in the vending areas allotted to more than 200 vendors in the two central markets of the city.
