Islamabad: Nov 16, 2021 (TNS): Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan says the government is taking concrete measures to reduce inflation and end poverty in the country.
Answering a question in the Senate on Tuesday, he said the government has announced a mega package of 120 billion rupees to provide subsidies on three major commodities.
He said another package of 1600 billion rupees has also been announced under which interest free loans will be distributed among the youth under Kamyab Pakistan Program. The program would help youth establish their businesses.
Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati says work on Karachi Circular Railways will start within a month.
Responding to a calling attention notice in the Senate, he said all required steps including planning have been completed in this regard and we are waiting for the final meeting of its board. He said we aim to complete this project within a short period of 36 months.
He said KCR is a viable project in line with the designs of modern cosmopolitans.
The Minister said the project is based on public-private partnership and as seed money the Federal government has provided 20 billion rupees for this project while the Sindh government will provide another six billion rupees.
The Minister said we have decided to provide a separate dedicated power supply for KCR.
The Minister said under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, our government is focused on transforming the entire Railways system. In this regard ML1 project will be of great importance.
Responding to a calling attention notice, Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said under the government’s initiative of promoting tourism in the country, we have decided to handover tourist’s properties of provinces including Gilgit Baltistan and AJK to respective provinces.
He said in GB and AJK these properties will be utilized by respective local governments who will provide fifty percent of the revenue to the federal government.
He made it clear that this practice is aimed at promoting tourism in the country.
Leader of the House in the Senate Shahzad Waseem has urged the opposition parties to work for a unanimous stance on electoral reforms.
Speaking on the floor, he said electoral reforms are the only way forward in resolving issues about elections.
Shahzad Waseem said we welcome any amendment in this regard.
