Islamabad, August 30 (TNS): Another man has been fatally shot by a police officer in Islamabad’s suburb area on Wednesday evening allegedly after failing to stop at a checkpoint.
Earlier in February this year a young man, Taimur, was also shot dead by the Islamabad police in similar circumstances in capital’s I-10/1 Sector.
Wednesday incident took place at Rawal Town, officials said.
The unidentified man was died on spot while his companion sustained serious injuries when police officials opened fire on their vehicle (White Suzuki Mehran) when chasing their car.
Police officials said they had instructed them to stop the car but they instead sped off. The police officer opened fire at car after their refusal to stop.
Top police officials also rushed to the scene soon after the incident while dead body of deceased driver and his injured companion have been shifted to hospital.
Federal Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal taking notice of incident sought immediate report from IGP Islamabad.
