ABBOTTABAD Aug 2 (TNS): “The Baloch Regiment has given tremendous sacrifices in the war against terrorism,” the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Wednesday at a two-day conference held here at the Baloch Regimental Centre.
I praise the role of Baloch Regiment, Gen Bajwa said while addressing the participants, which included soldiers and officers of various ranks as well as retired generals, He said the army will continue to fight terrorism in the country. “I am proud of the significant role of the Baloch Regiment in defending the country,” said the army chief.
Lauding the sacrifices of the martyrs he assured their families that the army will never forget those who gave their blood to defend and strengthen the nation.
The army chief emphasized that Pakistan Army will continue its efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism and to ensure that the borders remain secure. This demands the highest standards of faith, professionalism, and perseverance in the service of the nation, he was quoted as saying.
Gen Bajwa was also made the honorary Colonel-in-Chief of the Baloch Regiment. He also laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ monument of the regiment.
Former army chiefs Generals Mirza Aslam Beg and Ashfaq Pervez Kayani were also in attendance, as were former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff committee, Generals Tariq Majid and Rashad Mehmood. All four generals, as well as the present army chief, belong to the Baloch Regiment of the army.
