CHAMAN July 11 (TNS): Salahuddin Mehsud, Inspector General Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), condemning the Chaman bomb blast expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of DPO Sajid Khan Mohmand.
In a statement he said that Mohmand was a brave officer who was determined to restore peace in the region. A resolve reflected in his social media post read, “There is always something worth fighting for.”
Salahuddin Mehsud talking about Sajid Khan Mohmand shaheed said: “We are proud of him and the loss of such a brave police officer has created a big vacuum which cannot be fulfilled immediately.”
District Police Officer (DPO) Chaman Sajid Khan Mohmand was martyred in a targeted bomb blast on Monday.
The DPO along with his two security guards was passing through the Boghra Road when his vehicle was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb.
Two policemen and 15 others were also injured in the blast, and the injured were rushed to the Chaman Hospital for first aid treatment.
According to sources, the DPO had recently assumed charge of the district and he had launched a crackdown on anti-social elements and saboteurs.
Initial reports indicated that the blast may have been carried out by a suicide bomber; however, it could not be confirmed by the police.
Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area soon after the blast. No group claimed responsibility for the blast till the filing of this report.
