Lahore June 14 (TNS): Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the clean drinking water project was a milestone for which an allocation of Rs25 billion has been made in the financial budget 2017-18.
He said this while chairing a meeting the Punjab Water Roadmap, he said that clean drinking water was the basic right of every citizen and the provincial government has allocated a hefty sum of Rs 25 billion in the budget
He said that 116 water filtration plants were already providing clean drinking water to the residents in the Bahawalpur region and now the programme will be extended to all tehsils of the Punjab province.
He said that the project will help overcome water-borne diseases and two companies have already been engaged to implement the project. He stressed the need for involving the community in the clean drinking water project.
