Defence minister rubbishes US president’s allegations


Islamabad, August 22 (TNS): Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir on Tuesday rejected US President Donald Trump’s allegations of terrorist safe havens in Pakistan.

He was speaking in Senate on Tuesday evening while responding to a calling attention notice moved by Sehar Kamran regarding the statement by US Intelligence Chiefs during US Senate Armed Service Committee meeting.

The statement had said that India may launch aggressive action inside Pakistan on the pretext of stopping cross-border attacks.

The Minister said the US statement is based on assessments and India is well aware of its consequences.

He said Pakistan has been on forefront in the war against terrorism. He said Pakistan is taking action against terrorists of all shades without any discrimination.

Khurram Dastgir said any aggression by India will be responded effectively by Armed Forces and people of Pakistan.

He said Pakistan does not desire escalation of tension but will fully safeguard people living along the Line of Control.

The Minister said after successful completion of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is underway for eradication of terrorism
