Islamabad June 1 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Thursday observed that encroachments in Bani Gala in Islamabad have become a complicated issue and the issue is whether to demolish or regulate illegal structures in the locality.
When the apex court resumed hearing on a suo moto notice, Babar Awan appearing on behalf Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan, told the court that encroachments and illegal structures have almost come to a halt since when the apex court has taken cognizance of the issue.
Upon this, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said that the credit goes to your client that he had brought the issue to the notice of the court.
The chief justice also observed that things seem to have become further murky in the light of the reports submitted by the Capital Development Authority and the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration.
“Encroachments have become rampant in Bani Gala. The issue is whether these illegal structures should be demolished or regulated,” the chief justice remarked.
The court observed that the Botanical Garden in Bani Gala has also been encroached upon and illegal activities have been on the rise in the locality.
