Barcelona, April 27 (TNS): Barcelona’s iconic midfielder Andres Iniesta brought a close to an illustrious career for Barcelona on Friday after a 22-year association with the club.
The 33-year-old Spaniard announced in a press conference that he will leave the club at the end of the season which concludes in May.
The 2010 World Cup Winner said, ” This is my last season with the club, I want to thank my team-mates as they have been a great help in helping me become a success at a club like Barcelona.
“My only aim was to be a success at this club and I have done that.” “I have said it before, I do not want to play against Barca, so certainly, I won’t be playing in Europe again.” said the midfielder.
Iniesta came up the youth ranks to cement his place in the first team at Barcelona in 2002, he joined the club’s youth academy in 1996. The midfielder has had a glittering career. A career which others only dream of.
The midfielder has won eight LaLiga Titles, six Copa Del Rey cups, three Super Cups and 4 Champions League Titles.
Iniesta will Barcelona with an iconic status and the midfielders technique, vision and passing precision will be missed for many years. An Era has certainly come to an end.
