BRUSSELS, June 29 (TNS): The European Union has extended economic sanctions against Russia for six months for destabilizing Ukraine.

An official statement issued by the EU Headquarters in Brussels Wednesday said the decision was taken unanimously by all the twenty-eight EU member countries.

EU leaders endorsed the move last week, agreeing that Russia had not done enough to respect the peace agreement aimed at ending the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
