Five Indian personnel killed in IOK gunbattle

Srinagar, Dec. 31 (TNS): At least five Indian security personnel were killed in a gunbattle that ensued after freedom fighters stormed into a police training centre in occupied Kashmir on Sunday, Indian police official said.

At least two freedom fighters entered the building at around 2:30 a.m. at Letpora, south of Srinagar, Rajesh Yadhav, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) spokesman said.

The freedom fighters fired indiscriminately and lobbed grenades before heading into the centre, Yadhav said.

He said five police were killed in the gunbattle while two freedom fighters also martyred.

SN Srinvastav, special director general of the CRPF, said that there could be one or more freedom fighter still hiding.
