Six people died, 24 wounded as van catches fire near Multan


Multan, July 2 (TNS): In another disturbing fire incident at least six people were killed and more than 20 injured as a passenger van caught fire owing unknown reason near Head Mohammad Wala, a small town in South Punjab, police and Rescue 1122 said.

30 members of a same family were onboard; officials said adding that the van was coming from Layyah to Multan for shrine pilgrimage.

24 wounded have been shifted to Multan burn center while six persons including women died on spot.

Officials said more casualties were feared as many wounded reported in critical condition.

The reason of fire is still unknown; however, officials say CNG cylinder could have exploded.

Last Sunday, around over 150 people were burnt to death on spot and a large number injured with severe burn injuries as an overturned oil tanker exploded near Bahawalpur.

The death toll from the incident has now reached 200.
