FO urges Kabul for early recovery of Pakistani diplomats missing from Jalalabad


Islamabad, June 18 (TNS): Pakistan on Sunday said that it is in constant touch with Afghan authorities for safe recovery of two officials of Pakistan`s Consulate General in Jalalabad who went missing on late Friday.

In a statement on Sunday, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said the officials went missing while traveling to Pakistan by road.

He said the Afghan authorities have informed that all efforts were in hand to probe the incident and three distinct investigating groups have been constituted to ensure safe recovery of the officials.

The spokesperson said Pakistan has requested the Afghan government to ensure early recovery of the officials and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.

Pakistan did not speculate who may be behind the disappearances but various Afghan militant groups have targeted diplomats in the past.
