Gazain Marri ends his 18 years self-exile, reaches Quetta

QUETTA Sept 22 (TNS): Nawabzada Gazain Marri on Friday ended his 18 years self-exile after returning to Quetta from Dubai amidst large presence of Marri tribesmen.

He is the second eldest son of late Nawab Khair Bux Marri, the head of influential Marri tribe, and brother of MPA Changez Marri.

Moments after reaching Quetta Airport on Friday morning, police personnel detained him.

According to police officials, he has been detained for number of cases registered against him. However, the officials hinted his possible release if the court grants him bail in the cases.

Meanwhile, his counsel apprised media that Marri wanted to visit his father’s final resting place at New Kahan, situated at outskirts of the provincial capital, when police took him into custody. The lawyer added that his client had already been granted bail in all cases filed against him.

It merits mentioning here that Mr. Marri had served as the home minister of Balochistan and left for Dubai soon after a military operation launched in the province against the anti-state elements.

Earlier this year, Marri had announced that he would return to the country after the month of Ramzan. “Neither I had any affiliation with any proscribed outfit nor favored the politics of violence,” he had told media in Dubai.

He said to have sidelined himself from the politics of his brothers as according to him his thinking is different from them.

On his future strategy in a media talk in June this year, he said: “I will decide the future strategy in consultation with the tribesmen after coming to Pakistan.”
