ISLAMABAD Sept 29 (TNS): National Security Committee meeting which Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had summoned today to discuss the revised US policy towards Afghanistan and the prevailing regional situation is underway.
The high-level meeting, which was scheduled to take place after Friday prayers at PM House, is being attended by ministers from Defence, Finance and Foreign Affairs. Top leadership of the Armed Forces is also present at the meeting.
Matters pertaining to the revised US approach towards Afghan war, along with peace and security situation in the region, were to be discussed at the meeting. Important decisions are also expected to be taken during the meeting.
Civil and military leadership will contemplate over ensuring national security, the sources added. PM Abbasi is expected to take the committee into confidence over his recent visit to the US.
