Imran Khan sworn in as Pakistan’s 22nd Prime Minister donning a black Sherwani 


Islamabad, August 18 (TNS): Cricketer turned Politician and Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan took oath of his office as Pakistan’s 22nd Prime Minister on Saturday.

The Oath was administered by President Mamnoon Hussain in Aiwan-e-Saddar (President House).

Many Dignitaries were part of the historic event including former cricket Navjot Singh Sidhu who is also the minister of Indian Punjab, Star cricketer,Wasim Akram,Celebrities were also present including Hamza Ali Abbasi, Javed Sheikh, Sana Javed.

The first lady of the country Bushra Maneka was also part of the auspicious occasion.

High-profile guests were also part of the oath taking ceremony including caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan and Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

On Friday Khan was elected as leader of the house as he secured 176 votes by the members of National Assembly, whereas his counterpart and PMLN president Shehbaz Sharif bagged 96 votes, as People’s party decided to boycott the electoral process.

After a struggle of 22 years Imran Khan has now become Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
