PTI chairman Imran Khan has claimed that the assailant who tried to assassinate him in the\u00a0Wazirabad attack\u00a0was a \u201ctrained shooter\u201d and not a \u201creligious fanatic\u201d.<\/p>\n
The PTI chief was injured during a gun attack while leading the party\u2019s long march in Punjab\u2019s Wazirabad on November 3. A PTI supporter, Moazzam Nawaz, was killed in the incident while 14 others, including Imran, were wounded. The suspect was soon after arrested by the police.<\/p>\n
In an interview with German International broadcaster\u00a0DW<\/em>\u00a0on Thursday, Imran claimed that his assailant\u2019s profile was already drawn up and did not match that of a religious fanatic. \u201cHe was not a religious fanatic, this was a trained shooter,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The PTI chief also reiterated his claim that there were two shooters, saying that it was \u201cconfirmed\u201d that one person was opening fire from the front with \u201cdifferent bullets\u201d.<\/p>\n He repeated his allegation that the government was behind the attack, claiming that he had already known about the plot and that it was concocted two months ago.<\/p>\n Imran accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of being involved in the \u201cModel Town massacre\u201d and extrajudicial killings.<\/p>\n \u201cKilling is not new for them. As for the military intelligence guy, they were in cahoots,\u201d he added.
