{"id":112393,"date":"2023-01-24T09:47:55","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T04:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=112393"},"modified":"2023-01-24T09:47:55","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T04:47:55","slug":"selection-of-punjab-caretaker-cm-pti-kicks-off-street-protests-from-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=112393","title":{"rendered":"Selection of Punjab caretaker CM: PTI kicks off street protests from today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced Monday that his party would take to the streets today (Tuesday) against Mohsin Naqvi\u2019s appointment as Punjab\u2019s caretaker chief minister, vowing that he would not accept a \u201ccorrupt\u201d person in such a high-ranking post.<br \/>\nIn a televised address, the former prime minister said he foresaw the appointment of people to top offices after the election of Naqvi \u2014 who took oath as the caretaker CM a day earlier. \u201cWhen I was in power, I received a report about a man who tried the most to topple [PTI\u2019s] government. His name was Mohsin Naqvi. The intelligence bureau also gave a report on his activities,\u201d Khan said, expressing his concerns over the media mogul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMohsin Naqvi will bring all those people who are our staunch opponents,\u201d he added. Continuing his tirade against the newly-appointed Naqvi, Khan said: \u201cWhen I was in power, I received a report about a man who tried the most to topple [PTI\u2019s] government. His name was Mohsin Naqvi. The intelligence bureau also gave a report on his activities.\u201d He censured Naqvi for his association with the PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.<\/p>\n<p>The PTI leader also deplored the Election Commission of Pakistan\u2019s (ECP) decision to appoint the media mogul as chief executive of the country\u2019s biggest province. \u201cWe chose Nasir Khosa\u2019s name thinking they will like it. Ahmed Sukhera was the cabinet secretary at the time, we thought there wouldn\u2019t be an objection to him too. Naveed Akram Cheema was also [Prime Minister] Shehbaz Sharif\u2019s secretary. But they rejected all our names.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the PTI chairman \u201cpeaceful\u201d protest demonstrations will be held in Lahore and Rawalpindi on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, he said, adding that later they would hold protests in Faisalabad, Multan and other cities.<\/p>\n<p>The election should be held within 90 days after the dissolution of the assembly, he further said. Raising questions on the impartiality of the ECP, the PTI leader said if the electoral body was to appoint \u201csuch a person\u201d then what happened to its claims that the caretaker CM should be unbiased?<\/p>\n<p>Lashing out at the country\u2019s top election organising authority, the PTI chairman said that he had never seen such a dishonest ECP in his life. \u201cEvery decision of this ECP comes against us.\u201d Terming the Toshakhana case as a \u201cbig joke\u201d, the deposed prime minister said that the incumbent government provided all the details about him in the case but when the court sought a record, they say \u201cit is secret\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about his key demand after being removed from the helm of power, Khan said that elections should be held in Punjab prior to the holy month of Ramadan.
