ISLAMABAD: Polish Ambassador Maciej Pisarski addressed a comprehensive press briefing, shedding light on key international and bilateral issues as the year comes to a close. The ambassador highlighted Poland’s robust economic growth, proactive diplomatic initiatives, and steadfast commitment to global security, emphasizing the nation\u2019s role on the international stage.<\/p>\n
Marking 62 years of diplomatic ties between Poland and Pakistan, Ambassador Pisarski celebrated the enduring friendship, rooted in shared values such as respect for sovereignty and adherence to international law. He congratulated Pakistan on its election to the United Nations Security Council (2025-2026), expressing optimism about Pakistan\u2019s contributions to global peace and stability.<\/p>\n
The ambassador noted significant milestones in bilateral cooperation, including Poland\u2019s support during the 2021 Kabul evacuation and its efforts to assist Pakistani students during the Ukraine crisis. Bilateral trade has witnessed remarkable growth, surging from \u20ac456.74 million in 2018 to \u20ac861 million in 2023. Highlighting initiatives like the GreenEvo economic mission, he underscored the pivotal role of Polish companies in Pakistan\u2019s economic landscape. The Polish Oil and Gas Company (Orlen Group), for instance, has invested over $450 million in Pakistan since 1997.<\/p>\n
Reaffirming Poland\u2019s unwavering support for Ukraine amidst Russia\u2019s aggression, Ambassador Pisarski condemned Moscow\u2019s use of North Korean troops, labeling it as \u201ccolonial warfare\u201d destabilizing Europe and Asia. Poland has allocated over 4.91% of its GDP to military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine, reflecting its strong stance against Russian aggression.<\/p>\n
Addressing the migration crisis along the Polish-Belarussian border, the ambassador described it as a manifestation of hybrid warfare aimed at destabilizing the European Union. Poland, in collaboration with EU partners, continues to safeguard its borders and ensure regional security.<\/p>\n
Poland\u2019s humanitarian contributions remain substantial, with $12.2 million allocated in 2023-24 to aid Palestine. The ambassador reiterated Poland\u2019s support for a two-state solution, advocating for peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Pisarski highlighted Poland\u2019s remarkable economic transformation since 1989, with GDP surging by 826.96%. As the fastest-growing economy among upper-middle-income countries, Poland\u2019s per capita GDP (PPP) has nearly tripled, signifying an improved standard of living.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, Poland\u2019s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2025 will focus on security, defense, and countering disinformation. Plans to enhance EU-NATO cooperation and address the root causes of migration challenges are key priorities.<\/p>\n
