ISLAMABAD (TNS) Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which the Prime Minister assured the Chief Justice of expediting effective measures related to missing persons.
\nThe Prime Minister congratulated the Chief Justice on assuming responsibilities and expressed his best wishes. The country’s economic situation and security challenges were also discussed in the meeting.
\nAccording to a statement issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Justice Yahya Afridi at the Chief Justice House, in which Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Advisor Ahmed Cheema and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan were also present.
\nThe statement said that the Prime Minister’s meeting is part of the Chief Justice’s reforms agenda, the Chief Justice sent the agenda of the Judicial Policy Making Committee meeting and sought suggestions.
\nAccording to the statement, the Registrar Supreme Court and Secretary Law and Justice Commission also attended the meeting, while the Chief Justice also presented an honorary shield to the Prime Minister.
\nDuring the conversation with the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice said that he would also take the opposition into confidence on judicial policy-making and would also take suggestions from the opposition so that the reforms are uncontroversial and sustainable.
\nThe Chief Justice welcomed the discussion held by the Prime Minister for the improvement of the justice system and sought suggestions from the Prime Minister to improve the justice system.
\nThe Prime Minister assured the Chief Justice of expediting effective measures regarding missing persons, while the Prime Minister requested the Chief Justice to take quick decisions on the merits in these cases.
