By drawing from her mother\u2019s jewelry as a personal archive, she creates a space where memory and objects converge, encouraging reflection on identity, femininity, and belonging within wider cultural and political contexts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Artist Minaa Haroon shared the inspiration behind her work, remarking that, Throughout history, civilizations have been uncovered through their material culture. My journey begins with the intimate\u2014my mother\u2019s jewelry\u2014and expands into a broader exploration of feminine accessories as vessels of women\u2019s memories, struggles, and desires. By transforming inherited adornments into historical entities, the personal becomes political, opening layered reinterpretations of femininity, inheritance, and cultural heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exhibition highlights how inherited jewelry in South Asian traditions serves as more than ornamental value, embodying continuity, resilience, and collective history. Haroon\u2019s practice honors these legacies while questioning the boundaries and limitations they may carry.<\/p>\n
